Professional Summary

Georgia Yanchar is a seasoned corporate and technology attorney with more than two decades of experience guiding global companies through complex commercial, transactional, and intellectual property matters, spanning both private practice and in-house leadership. A registered patent attorney with a degree in Chemical Engineering, she combines technical fluency with business acumen to help organizations innovate responsibly and scale strategically.

Georgia advises clients in software, artificial intelligence, fintech, and life sciences on technology transactions, product development, licensing, and compliance. She has also guided IP strategy and litigation for Fortune 500 clients across industries including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, software, mobile technology, fintech, and consumer products. Her deep intellectual property background in trademarks, copyrights, and patents, combined with her ability to translate complex issues into practical insights, strengthens her ability to align innovation strategy with business goals. She regularly advises clients on portfolio development, licensing, and freedom-to-operate matters, as well as corporate transactions, making her a trusted advisor to boards, executives, and in-house legal teams.

Prior to joining OGC, Georgia served as General Counsel of MRI Software, a private-equity-backed global real estate software company, where she built and led the company’s worldwide legal and compliance functions. In this role, she:

  • Automated the customer contracting process, accelerating sales and enabling the company to achieve recurring revenue targets
  • Managed a diverse international litigation docket
  • Advised on the acquisition and integration of more than 20 companies in support of board-driven growth initiatives
  • Developed AI governance and compliance policies during a period of rapid innovation, and oversaw the company’s Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team
  • Developed and implemented a comprehensive IP strategy for its innovative AI-powered products, including registration of trademarks and copyrights, patent strategy, licensing, open source compliance, brand protection, and enforcement

Previously, Georgia served as Vice Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group of Calfee, Halter and Griswold, where she directed IP strategy and litigation for Fortune 100 and 500 clients across diverse industries. She has led every stage of litigation — from pleadings and discovery through claim construction, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial.

Earlier in her career, Georgia served as an Adjunct Professor at Case Western University School of Law, teaching courses on trademarks and advertising. She began her practice in the intellectual property groups of Jones Day (Cleveland and New York) and Goodwin Procter.

Georgia has been recognized by Chambers USA for her deep IP expertise and creative advocacy in high-stakes patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret disputes. In 2019, she was elected President of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association (CIPLA), an organization of nearly 400 members.

Georgia graduated summa cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law and earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh.

When she is not practicing law, Georgia is usually outside in her garden or on a trail. Inside, you will often find her listening to music and cooking for her family and friends. Georgia also enjoys supporting community organizations such as the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Holden Arboretum.
