Professional Summary
Amanda K. O’Keefe is a senior legal executive with more than 20 years of experience spanning data privacy, AI governance, technology transactions, and general counsel responsibilities built through in-house leadership roles and embedded product work within a global legal technology company.
Amanda’s practice at OGC focuses on global data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance matters, providing clients with practical guidance to balance compliance and innovation. She advises on evolving privacy and AI regulatory frameworks, builds and manages data protection programs, and counsels clients on the commercial and contractual issues that come with deploying AI and data-driven products.
Amanda has firsthand experience translating fast-moving AI and privacy regulation into practical guidance and design to meet ambitious go-to-market objectives. Most recently, Amanda served as Director, Global Data Protection & Cybersecurity at Thomson Reuters Practical Law, a leading legal technology company, where she worked embedded within product development, led a global team of attorney-editors, and partnered with product and engineering teams to shape AI-powered legal tools.
Earlier in her career, she held senior in-house roles within heavily-regulated industries, serving as Corporate Vice President and Associate General Counsel in New York Life Insurance Company’s Transactions, IP, and Strategic Sourcing group, and as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel in Citigroup’s Operations and Technology group. She also served as Division Counsel at InComm Payments, and as outside counsel for creative and entrepreneurial clients. Her range of expertise gives her a working command of both heavily regulated global enterprises and lean, fast-moving businesses where legal work has to be done efficiently or not at all. In these roles, Amanda also handled fintech and health tech regulatory compliance, complex technology transactions, contract templates, third-party risk management, trademarks, marketing and advertising, employment matters, and mergers and acquisitions.
Amanda began her legal career as an associate at Weinstock & Scavo, P.C. Before becoming a lawyer, she worked as a business consultant with Arthur Andersen’s healthcare practice, a foundation that still shapes how she frames legal risk in operational and financial terms. She has also served in the U.S. Security & Exchange Commission’s Enforcement Division, and as an adjunct professor of business law and corporate social responsibility.
She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law, and her B.A. in Policy Studies and Economics, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Syracuse University, and is admitted to practice in New York and Georgia. Amanda holds the Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP), Certified Information Privacy Professional/US (CIPP/US), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) credentials from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and is designated a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
Outside of work, Amanda is either studying languages and traveling the world, or is at home with her family, two Bernese mountain dogs, and two cats of unknown origin.
