Professional Summary
Rick Levy is a seasoned Los Angeles-based attorney, business executive, strategist, and investor who has spent the past 25+ years of his career in the music, entertainment, and sports industries.
Rick advises companies, founders, and executive teams on complex commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, corporate governance, and high-stakes business decisions. He also represents and advises entertainment executives in the negotiation of their employment agreements and separations from their employers, as well as musicians in all aspects of their careers and contracts. Drawing on decades of experience serving in legal and business leadership roles, he brings a practical, business-first perspective to legal strategy, helping clients navigate growth, transactions, and organizational change while aligning legal advice with broader business objectives.
Prior to joining OGC, Rick served as General Counsel of ICM Partners for more than 22 years. For over four decades, ICM was one of the world’s largest talent agencies, representing clients in motion pictures, television, publishing, theater, concerts, and sports, until its acquisition by Creative Artists Agency in June 2022.
During his tenure at ICM Partners, Rick served as chief legal officer, chief operating officer, and chief business development officer, and sat on the company’s board of directors. In these roles, Rick oversaw the global legal function and all corporate mergers and acquisitions, as well as, at various times, the company’s Human Resources, IT, Physical Operations, Business Affairs and Corporate Communications departments.
As General Counsel, Rick led ICM’s deal team in the sale of a controlling interest of ICM to a private equity buyer, then among the sector’s largest deals. He also played an integral role in the management buyout that followed and in the 2012 creation of ICM’s 100% agent- owned partnership structure, serving as both Founder and board member. In 2019, Rick helped secure a significant private equity investment that led ICM’s acquisition of Stellar Group, one of the world’s largest sports agencies. He also led additional acquisitions and divestitures, oversaw the company’s debt financings and refinancings, and managed outside counsel handling complex class action and labor litigation for the company.
Rick has served on the boards of Primary Talent International, Ltd., a music booking agency; Just for Laughs/Juste Pour Rire, the Canadian live entertainment behind the world’s largest comedy festival, where he was also interim CEO in 2024); Innovative Partnerships Group (IPG360), a business development and partnership marketing firm; and Albatros Agency, Swedish talent and literary agency. From January 2022 through December 2023, he was Founder and CEO of Sponso (formerly Sponsorship Exchange), an early-stage technology company. He has also invested in several technology companies and sits or has sat on a number of their advisory boards.
Rick spent more than 20 years as an officer and board member of the Association of Talent Agents, where he chaired the legal committee, and is the former Chair of the YPO Wilshire Gold Chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). He served more than 17 years on the board of Unicef USA’s Southern California Region, including several terms as its President, and is the immediate past Chair of the McGill West Coast Regional Advisory Board. His honors include the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Counsel of the Year Award and the Association of Media and Entertainment Counsel’s Dealmaker of the Year Award.
Rick started his legal career as an associate in the labor, employment and entertainment practice groups of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he served as senior editor for the NYU Law Review. He is a member of the California State Ba, and serves as a volunteer settlement officer for the Resolve Law LA Virtual Mandatory Settlement Conference Program for employment cases.
Rick lives in Los Angeles with his wife and four children, and can be found on the weekends coaching his youngest son’s Little League baseball team.
